We asked 100 People from Newtown to name their idea of a brilliant night's craic....and our survey said, "Watch this Space!"
For one night only - Saturday 23rd May 2026, you do not want to miss this fantastic community night out in the Canal Court Hotel, Newry!
Over the coming months, you will see details of brilliant fundraisers that our participating teams are putting together. There will be something for everyone to enjoy and get involved in. We hope that you enjoy the build up to what promises to be a memorable evening for our Club.
And why, we hear you ask? What is the driving force behind this extravaganza?! Well, we need your help to make our club facilities even better, just as you wanted. In our Club's 5 Year Plan that was formulated back in 2020 with your feedback, a number of areas were identified for development and improvement. A number of these projects have been successfully delivered, to include our "D-VAL 16" S & C Gym; Security Fencing, and development of our small pitch, to include recent lighting installation. These initiatives were brought to fruition by the tireless work of volunteers, together with the generosity of you, our club supporters and community.
All of these works were completed to improve St. Michael's GFC's facilities for our members and local community. But, of course, these works come with a price tag. Our 5 Year Plan has been revised in January of this year, so that we can now work towards delivering a number of other items on the "Wish List". Monies raised from this NEWTOWN FAMILY FORTUNES EXPERIENCE will be invested back into the Club with the provision of a Walking Track. This will promote health & well-being within our community and will provide a safe place for people to exercise, without having to travel too far. We also hope to be able to work on further club development, such as refurbishment of our Club house, so that all stakeholders can have excellent facilities on their doorstep.
These ambitions will only be possible with your support, and we would be grateful if you could get behind St. Michael's GFC & our dream of making our club even better! In the words of the late great Mícheál Ó Muircheartaigh, "The GAA is a social vehicle where all the people of a community can have something in common. It gives a spirit to a place. And community spirit, I think, is much, much greater than financial wealth for a community to have. If they have a spirit, they'll overcome a lot".
