Our teams were fortunate to have glorious weather this week for their various fixtures, making it a bit easier underfoot!

Seniors:
The lads had a mid week showdown away to Corrinshego for their Round 3 match.  The lads put in a big shift with plenty of scorers in the first half. Emmett O’Malley, Aodhan Casey and Aidan Davidson left it a draw at halftime, 0-6 apiece against the wind.  At the start of the second half, the home side hit the back of the net, but Aidan Davidson managed to score a point and a 2 pointer to leave it 1-6 to 0-9 going into final 20 mins. Unfortunately, things did not go in our favour as Emmett O’Malley and Sean McVerry both got sent to the dugout for two harsh yellow cards.  Although being down to 13 men, the team tried to finish out strong but the final result was in 2-9 to 0-11 in favour of Corrinshego.  Top scorer was Aidan Davidson, with 0-5.

Round 4 saw the lads welcome Lissummon to Dundalk Street on a sunny Sunday afternoon.  It took the lads a bit to settle into the game, but there was a range of scorers and just before half time, Jamie O’Hare scored a 2 point free to leave the game all square at 7 points a piece. After the break, Newtown started well with Aodhan Casey getting a point from play. Emmett O’Malley and Jamie O’Hare were accurate from their free kicks, and both scored 0-5 to give us the 2 points. Good performance from all against Lissummon to bounce back following Wednesday's disappointment.  MOTM performance from Jonjo Powell.

Minors:
Last night, played in Keady High School, our Newtown Emmetts O'Doirnins started well against a very strong Keady team. The score was 3:5 to 2:5 to Keady at half time with all to play for in the second half.  However, Keady to their credit completely controlled the second half, running out comfortable winners.

U16 Boys:
The U16s had a great evening for a match, and the boys played well against Shamrock Gaels. We were the more dominant team in the first half, worked some great scores, missed a few opportunities and should have been further ahead. We went into the break 0-7 to 0-3 ahead. Second half was much better, lads settled down and played some great football. Defending again was excellent and we were more clinical in front of the posts. A goal from Noah McArdle and a great fisted goal from Joe McVerry helped us to be well ahead at the end. A brilliant team performance with everyone  playing their part. Final score 2-16 to 0-7.

U14 Boys:
There was a great team performance from Paul and Bonzo's lads, overcoming near neighbours Granemore 8-16 to 4-08 in their Round 2 League match.

U10 Boys:
These boys were raring to go in great conditions, and welcomed a strong Belleek team for GoGames.  There were great periods of interplay between the boys, excellent foot passes and some super solos.  Keep it up.💪

U8s GoGames:
Our U8s welcomed Culloville to a very warm Newtown on Sunday morning, and it was a great display of enthusiasm and team spirit.  There was no holding back with plenty of good defensive work and good kickouts.  Roll on the next one boys & girls!

Congratulations to Lochlainn Murray, who was part of the St. Patrick's High School Keady team who won the Treanor Cup by defeating Dean Maguirc College 5-10 to 1-15.  A great performance by Lochlainn between the posts, what an achievement. 👏 🏆

We also had Rory Carragher in action for St. Paul's Bessbrook Year 8s, who overcame Omagh CBS 4-08 to 2-12.  Fair play Rory!

If anyone has any news on our underage players they'd like included in our weekly notes, please get in touch. It's nice to keep up to date with their various achievements.
