Seniors:
St Michael’s had a great win over Killean, winning 4-17 to 0-09 on Sunday.
Daithi O’Malley scored 3 goals and Emmett O’Malley scored 1-03 in a strong performance from the forwards. Aodhan Casey and Aidan Davidson both scored 3 points each. Benny Davidson, Jamie O’Hara and Jonjo Powell each scored 2 points, while Sean McVerry and Miceal Rock tagged on a point apiece. The visitors were the better team from throw-in, putting in a solid team performance.
Next up sees Ballyhegan take the trip to Newtown on Friday evening. We hope to see plenty of support for the lads, who face an undefeated Ballyhegan side.
Minors:
The scoreline didn't reflect the lads' efforts tonight, in a disappointing evening against Tullysaran. The final score was 4-14 to 1-13. The Newtown Emmets O'Doirnins created plenty of goal chances, but only took one of them. Credit to our boys who competed very well. Their next game is against Granemore next Monday.
U16 Boys:
The boys faced a strong Naomh Colm outfit last week in their Round 5 fixture, going down 2-12 to 0-08. They travel to Wolfe Tones on Thursday in pursuit of 2 points 💪.
U14 Boys:
Our U14s made the long trip to St Paul’s, Lurgan to play Setanta Gaels. The teams were well matched, with both teams having periods of dominance with only a point separating them at half time.
The lads pushed hard at the start of the 2nd half, taking the lead and going ahead by 3 points. The home side then enjoyed a purple patch with the scoreboard reflecting a 9 point swing. The visitors rallied again bringing the margin down to 3 points, but ultimately came up short. Great scoring from the lads, keep it up!
Final score:
Setanta Gaels: 7:10
Newtown Emmett’s O’Doirnin 4:16
U12 Girls:
Their League match against Corrinshego on Sunday was postponed, so the girls will train on Tuesday at 7pm in Newtown.
U10 Boys:
This crew played their socks off last week, welcoming Shane O'Neills to Newtown on a sunny evening for enjoyable GoGames. They really came into their own, displaying accurate kick passing, great teamwork and a cohesive attitude.
They continued their hard work in Forkhill on Saturday, playing Shane O'Neills and the hosts. There is plenty to build on and they all thrived on the opportunity to get game time. Well done!
G4MOs:
These lassies welcome Armagh Harps to Newtown on Tuesday evening. Fair play to Eibhlin & Eimear who competed in Rory Foster's King of the Town Competition on Saturday. It was an excellent event, not for the faint hearted but it was great to see plenty of club colours on display!
Good luck to Barra's county Minors, who play Cavan this Saturday at 12noon in Crossmaglen in the Ulster Quarter Final 🟠 ⚪️
Family Fortunes - Weekend of Fun a resounding success
We have to commend our various participating teams in our upcoming event for their amazing fundraising efforts to date. This weekend just past saw 4 entirely different events, but each one brilliant.
Our G4MOs team organised a disco and a Pizza & Paint night , and the smiles on the attendees faces said it all. Thank you to Charlotte for guiding the girls through their Disco Strawberry creations, and to Niamh, Shannen & Siobhan for the pizza, disco beats and fun!
On Saturday, Rory of RFPT had meticulously planned a King of the Town Competition. In the glaring sun, the brave participants undertook a gruelling trio of workouts with lots of blue and white jerseys on show. The supporters and competitors alike availed of treats from Brewtown Coffee, and it was a great advertisement of some of our local businesses. Massive kudos to Rory for his hard work - check out his social media pages for the action shots!
Not to be outdone, Rory's mum, Maeve of Foster Natural Health, Lisa of Angel Holistic Therapy and
Pilates by Ashline Carragher presented a Women's Wellness Morning on Sunday. This was co-ordinated by Andrea, Martha, Helen, Sinead, Maria and Ashline - 4 of whom will be taking part in Family Fortunes. We're very fortunate to have these knowledgeable ladies in our community, each offering sound advice on how to look after your health. Throw in some coffee and treats, and the girls delivered a fantastic morning.
Congratulations to Kevin Carragher, winner of the Luxury Drinks Hamper raffled on Sunday morning, and Michael Hearty who won the Snaubs Boutique voucher, kindly donated by Noelle McGarvey.
Thank you everyone for supporting our teams and their fundraising efforts - every penny raised is for delivering a walking track that the whole community can use. Your generosity is most appreciated.
Not long to go until 23rd May - stay tuned as we reveal our Teams later this week. Tickets are on sale NOW - available on Clubzap shop or from the Committee 🌟
