In association with Ulster GAA, St. Michael's GFC is delighted to offer our young members aged 14-24 the opportunity to achieve the Bronze award in either Gaisce – the President’s Award or Duke of Edinburgh Award, through the Joint Award Initiative.

The Joint Award Initiative offers participants living in the six counties (Antrim, Armagh, Derry, Down, Fermanagh and Tyrone) to achieve three levels of award – Bronze, Silver and Gold.  All participants work towards these awards and on completion, they can choose which of the awards are most relevant to them.

More information on the initiative can be found via this link :

Depending on the individual's circumstances, there are many benefits to working towards achieving an award through this Initiative, such as:
  • Sharing experiences with friends;
  • Developing lifelong skills that can help with securing future employment;
  • Making a positive contribution to the local community;
  • Strengthening links with the club;
  • Personal development of skills such as communication, leadership, time management, teamwork & resilience;
  • A strong addition to your CV / university application / further education application;
  • Having fun whilst improving your health !
A lot of the requirements for the award are activities that are being done anyway, so why not take part and work towards the Bronze Award.  Ulster GAA oversee this initiative, and we can assist those who take part too.

Get in touch with Majella Carragher of our Committee to register your interest - an information night can be arranged if there is enough interest.  PM our facebook page or message 07749969049.
