Our U14 Championship Finalists put on a display of dominance against Loughgilly Gaels, on a strong scoreline of 11-17 to 3-05 in their Round 6 League clash.
The U8s & U10s welcomed Shamrock Gaels to Newtown for their respective GoGames matches. There was plenty of brilliant kick passing and team work being put to the test, and everyone enjoyed their game time.
In the LGFA Gold League, the U12s finally got their campaign started in a much awaited fixture. The coaching trio of Kevin Flynn, Sean Turley & Lauren Gibney were delighted that the Michael O'Doirnin Emmetts ran out winners, with this team having great potential. Keep it up girls.
Our U16 lads were narrowly defeated by Eire Óg. It started slowly, and the Newtown Emmets didn't get going in the first half, finding themselves 5 points down at half time. They played much better in the second half, levelling twice with help from a Joe Vallely goal. However, the lads couldn't get their noses in front. They were 4 down with 5 minutes to play, and kept battling. A goal from Cathal Hughes got it back to a point, but Eire Óg held on well for the last few minutes and were arguably the deserved winners in the end. Full time score: Eire Óg 4-7 NTEOD 3-9.
On Friday night, the Seniors hosted Madden IIs where two first half goals from our Micheal Rock and Bonzo put the team in a great position heading into the break. The visitors picked up a bit of momentum in the second half, but the lads secured a win despite the dull conditions and being without a few players. Their 2-07 to 0-08 victory sees our Seniors top Table 3B, ahead of Killeavy II on scoring difference. Keep 'er lit 🔵 ⚪
The minors bounced back tonight with a brilliant win over Patrick Rankins, 2-18 to 3-08, having suffered a heavy defeat last week. The lads put in a great team performance, linking in well with each other to win this first round tie of the Div 3 League Shield.
And whilst the Orchard's journey has come to an end for this season, we can't dismiss the excitement, nor ignore the sea of Orange, White and Black regalia that has engulfed us all. Glory days indeed, and here's to more next year.
