Unfortunately, both our Minors and Seniors were on the wrong side of their respective results.
A strong Pearse Óg side dominated the Newtown Emmets O'Doirnins lads, winning their Quarter Final 1-16 to 1-07.
In the glaring heat in Craigavon, Eire Óg hit the ground running in the Group C clash, leading 1-04 to 0-02 after 10 minutes. Scores from Aidan Davidson helped to build a bit the momentum, as well as a number of wides from Eire Óg. There were plenty of turnovers for both teams, but it was the hosts that finished the half 1-9 to 0-5. After the break, there was a flurry of scores from Eire Óg, taking their lead to 1-13 to 0-06 with 6 minutes gone. Pearse Woods struck two brilliant 2 pointers to keep Newtown in with a shout, but Eire Óg always posed a threat in attack and pegged off a few scores to finish up 1-17 to 0.12.
All roads lead to Dundalk St on Sunday evening, in a must win Round 3 match for both teams to keep their Championship campaign going.
Last Sunday, our U10 girls hosted a Hub in Dorsey, which was attended by Carrickcruppen, Shane O'Neills, Crossmaglen, Shamrock Gaels and Killeavy. It was a brilliant morning for the girls with superb skills on show from all teams. The future of Armagh Ladies football is looking good! Thank you to Sean, Keli and Brendan for their help on the day with the team.
Further afield, our G4MOs attended the Cookstown Fr Rocks GAC Summer Festival Blitz. They faced teams from Beragh, Ballinascreen and the hosts - and had great craic afterwards too. Manager, Paul was in his element back in his Tyrone surroundings, so everyone was a winner. The next Blitz will be a bit closer to home in Carrickcruppen, something to look forward to.
Last but by no means least, well done to our U8s who hosted Forkhill on a sunny Wednesday evening for some GoGames. They played their socks off, and really enjoyed the challenge. 👏
Thank you to the volunteers led by Aidy Swift who tidied the club grounds as part of the South Armagh Litter Pick at the weekend. Every effort makes a difference to keep the grounds looking well. It was followed by the Newtown Men's Shed open day, which was a hive of activity with live music, refreshments and familiar faces. It certainly showed our community at its best.
Come out & support our teams this week - our U16s have their Championship Semi Final this Thursday and our Seniors enjoy home advantage for their Round 3 clash. Our fixtures are listed below. Baile Úr Abú!!
